Steve Aoki and Wiz Khalifa join forces at Foxwoods

    Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki is one of the supreme DJ/producers on Earth - which is a planet, by the way, that he may one day rule. After all, he has collaborated with the platinum-plus likes of will.i.am, Afrojack, LMFAO, Iggy Azalea, Lil Jon and Laidback Luke, as well as overseen and polished their songs and albums.

Personally, that Aoki has willingly spent time in the studio with Iggy Azalea and LMFAO is everything I need to know to steer clear of the fellow. But this is a new generation and a new era of making music - "What's a guitar? Rehearse what?" - and I get that. It's how art works and shifts and moves.

Besides, on Aoki's most recent solo album, "Neon Future I," he's crafted some amazing grooves, textures, sounds and moods. So good for him.

Aoki appears Saturday in Foxwoods' Grand Theater. Also on the bill is rapper/singer Wiz Khalifa, whose tune "Black and Yellow" hit the top of the Billboard charts.

    - RICK KOSTER
