    Motion Radio plays New London

Brian Briggs, left, A.J. Longo and Matt Hamilton are Motion Radio.

Editor's note: This version updates the band's name, which recently changed, and corrects the photo caption.

At this point in the universe, it's not unusual to see rock bands cite both the Beatles and White Stripes as influences. Consider New London's melodic indie act Motion Radio. Interestingly, they also tag Incubus, Radiohead and Led Zeppelin as providing sonic DNA - all of which means Motion Radio do a pretty good job of sounding like themselves.

On songs such as "Change" and "Funeral Flowers," musicians Matt Hamilton (guitar/vocals), Brian Briggs (drums) and A.J. Longo (bass/vocals) prove more than adept at fusing energy and hooks - and it's all on display Friday onstage in New London's 33 Golden Club.

Also playing are On a Pirhana - and, by the way, request their tune "A True Thanksgiving" because, well, you'll be grateful you did.
