Annual Salt Pond Challenge is Aug. 11

New England Science & Sailing, the Misquamicut Business Association and the Westerly Recreation Department present the 13th annual Misquamicut Beach 2015 Salt Pond Challenge, a 1-mile swim race, on Aug. 11. Prizes will be awarded to the first three finishers.

Check-in is at 5:30 p.m. at the sandy beach area across from the state beach pavilion and Paddy’s Restaurant, 155 Atlantic Ave.

The entry fee is $20, $15 if registered in advance. Proceeds benefit the Westerly School field trips to NESS and beach and pond area cleanup. Swim caps are required. Go to www.eventbrite.com and search Misquamicut Salt Pond Challenge or call NESS at (860) 535-9362 for details.
