Bowzer to return to Mohegan Sun with doo-wop party

Jon "Bowzer" Bauman, former frontman of the band Sha Na Na, will be returning to Mohegan Sun Arena Sunday for his 17th annual Rock ‘N’ Doo-Wop Party. What does a doo-wop party entail? I’m imagining poodle skirts and leather jackets will be out in full force. I'm also imagining some spirited audience participation in an afternoon-long event that boasts a line-up of doo-wop songs from the '50s and '60s and jump-inducing rock music from the same era.

Performances on the bill for Sunday include Kenny Vance & The Planotones ("Looking For An Echo"), Charlie Thomas' Drifters ("Under The Boardwalk," "Up On The Roof," "On Broadway"), Jay Siegel's Tokens ("The Lion Sleeps Tonight," "Tonight I Fell In Love," "Portrait Of My Love"), and The Dubs ("Could This Be Magic," "Chapel of Dreams"). The Original Comets will also make an appearance to sing "Rock Around The Clock," "Shake, Rattle & Roll," and "See You Later, Alligator."

    Bowzer's Rock 'n' Doo-Wop Party Volume XVII, 3 p.m. Sunday, Mohegan Sun Arena; $25, $35; 1-800-745-3000.
