If you've experienced a severe case of weather whiplash this past week, well, you're not alone. We have been blasted with snow and then treated to spring-like temps, and then, boom, it was back to more seasonable temps again.

So what's the story for Saturday, when Olde Mistick Village will host its annual Cabin Fever Festival and Charity Cook-off? As of press time, forecasts predicted that Saturday would be in the 40s around here. So, yes, there will enough of a chill in the air to make chowder the perfectly comforting snack.

This year’s fest, which is the 15th annual one, will feature a variety of restaurants and caterers cooking up some mouthwatering and creative chowders.

Tickets are $1 for a 3-ounce cup of chowder; people can also buy 12 tickets for $10.

Judges weigh in on categories like most creative chowder, while members of the public can cast their ballots in the People’s Choice Award category.

In addition to the chowder, the village will be hosting family entertainment.

All the proceeds from the cook-off go to Always Home, which used to be called Mystic Area Shelter and Hospitality; it’s a non-profit service agency dedicated to preventing family homelessness in southeastern Connecticut.
