    High school boys' basketball: Volkerts powers Fitch past Killingly

    Groton - Eddie Volkerts had 21 points, 18 rebounds, five assists and five steals as Fitch High School beat Killingly on Friday, 66-51, in an Eastern Connecticut Conference interdivision game.

    The Falcons (9-2) outscored Killingly in the third quarter, 23-10.

    John Floyd had 15 points and eight rebounds for Fitch.

    Chace Wood scored 19 for Killingly.

    In other games:

    •Drake Gavin scored 23 points as Old Lyme used a dominant second quarter effort to beat Coginchaug, 52-40, in a Shoreline Conference game.

    The Wildcats outscored Coginchaug in the second quarter, 15-1. Jacob Ballachino had 14 points for Old Lyme (9-2, 8-2). Conor Doyle scored 16 for the Blue Devils (8-3, 7-3).

    • Mike Dellaporta had 20 points and T.J. Condon and Jacob Raggon both scored 15 as Wheeler beat Lyman Memorial, 68-55, in an ECC Small Division game. Alex Haines had 12 rebounds for Wheeler (6-4, 2-2) and Max Dussault added 11 rebounds.

    • Landon Peabody scored 17 as Waterford pulled away from Norwich Free Academy in the fourth quarter to win, 53-41. Jake Mangual had 13 points for the Lancers (6-3), who outscored NFA in the final period, 13-5. Brian Feng scored 16 for the Wildcats (5-6) and Brandon Drabinski added 11 points.

    • Paul Pepas had 18 points as St. Bernard beat Tourtellotte, 57-37, in the ECC Small. Remy Bonser scored 17 for the Saints (6-3, 3-1) and Graham Fagerquist and James Foti both had eight points. Evan Ware had 12 points for the Tigers.

    • Amadi White had a game-high 20 points as Stonington beat East Lyme, 66-47.

    Matt Donahue added 15 for the Bears (5-7) while Cristian Brown had 13 points for the Vikings (0-11).

    • Windham Tech made three free throws in the final minute, hanging on to beat Norwich Tech 77-71 in a Constitution State Conference East Division game. Justin Brown had 18 points, Mike Froscello and Alex Casillas had 15 points each, Mack Osias ad 14 points and Jacob Sulik scored 12 for Norwich Tech (3-7, 3-2), which cut the lead to 74-71 on a 3-pointer by Froscello with 58 seconds left. Damon Vega scored 21 for Windham Tech (7-3, 4-0).
