Mohegan Tribal Council members re-elected Kevin Brown chairman Monday after a swearing-in ceremony for Brown and four other councilors elected to new terms in August.

A tribal spokesman confirmed the outcome of the voting for officers but provided no details.

Brown was elected to a second four-year term on the nine-member council in the August balloting among tribal members.

In addition to governing the 2,100-member tribe, the council serves as the management board for Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, which operates the tribe’s gaming enterprises, including Mohegan Sun, its flagship casino. Brown, a retired Army colonel, was first elected chairman following his 2013 election to the council. During his tenure, the tribe’s gaming and non-gaming business ventures have grown dramatically.

MGE is planning a third Connecticut casino in a partnership with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe as well as developing a casino resort in Incheon, South Korea.

Also sworn in to new terms Monday were incumbents Kathy Regan-Pyne, James Gessner Jr. and William Quidgeon Jr., and newcomer Sarah Harris, the daughter of Roland Harris, a former council chairman.

Other officers re-elected by the council were Gessner, vice chairman; Thayne Hutchins Jr., treasurer; Cheryl Todd, recording secretary; and Regan-Pyne, corresponding secretary. Other members of the council are Mark Brown and Joe Smith.

Also Monday, the Mashantuckets released the names of 11 certified candidates for the two tribal council seats up for election in November. The council has seven members who serve staggered, three-year terms.

Incumbent Richard E. Sebastian, the vice chairman, will seek re-election, while incumbent Roy Colebut-Ingram, will not.

The other candidates are Dwaine Butler, older brother of Rodney Butler, the chairman; Latoya Cluff; Theodore Corprew-Sebastian; Fatima Dames, a former councilor; Althea Gilliam; Marc Nunn Jr.; Matthew Pearson; Michael Pittman; Cynthia Sebastian-Welch; and Mark Thornton.
