Person injured in propane explosion in Groton

Groton — A person was taken to the hospital Monday following a propane explosion in a food truck belonging to The Bridge Market.

Poquonnock Bridge Fire Chief Joseph Winski said a worker was working on the vehicle when the explosion occurred. The fire was out by the time the fire department arrived, but first responders took precautionary measures.

The individual was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital by Groton Ambulance, he said.

The Poquonnock Bridge fire marshal is investigating the cause of the explosion, Winski said.

The Bridge Market said on its Facebook page that the individual suffered non life-threatening injuries due to the small propane explosion.

"Thank you to Groton Town Police, Groton Ambulance, L+M Paramedics, Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department & our customer Brian who works locally as an EMT and happen to be in the restaurant at the time of the accident for your quick response and help this morning," The Bridge Market posted. "It is so appreciated."
