Local roundup: Old Lyme boys rout East Hampton 57-28
Old Lyme - Drake Gavin scored 17 points as the Old Lyme boys' basketball team beat East Hampton 57-28 in a Shoreline Conference game on Thursday night.
Gavin had nine of his points in the second quarter when Old Lyme outscored East Hampton 21-9 to take a 31-14 halftime lead.
Jacob Ballachino scored nine points for Old Lyme (6-1, 5-1).
Girls' basketball
• Tourtellotte outscored Wheeler 13-0 in the second quarter en route to a 41-27 win in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Small Division game. Lexi Galluci led Wheeler (3-5, 1-2) with 12 points.
Women's basketball
• Carynn Bartolucci had 16 points and 13 rebounds as Avery Point rolled to a 55-37 win over Gateway CC in New Haven. Briana Padewski added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Pointers.
H.S. football
• Ledyard will hold its annual team banquet and Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 25 at 5 p.m. at Lake of Isles Golf Course. The Colonels, who won a school-record 12 games, captured the ECC Medium Division title and advanced to the Class M-Small state final, will be honored along with the fourth class of the Ledyard Football Hall of Fame: Mike Carson (1980), Mike Gorman (1985), Bydrow Williams (1994), Julian Hightower (2008) and the 1966 football team. Women's soccer
• Astrid Kempainen of Connecticut College was named to the D3Soccer.com All-American team as a first-team selection. Kempainen, a senior midfielder, was the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2014.
