    Local roundup: Five locals to play in CHSCA girls' all-star festival

    Five local seniors have been selected to play in Monday's Connecticut High School Coaches' Association All-Star basketball festival at North Branford High School.

    Norwich Free Academy's Maya Bell and Olivia Lane will play for the Class LL/L East team while New London's Deanna McCarvell, St. Bernard's Kaitlyn Berkel and Stonington's Margot Calmar will play for the Class M/S East team.

    The M/S East will play the M/S West team at 6 p.m. with the Class LL/L game to follow at approximately 7:30. Admission to the doubleheader is $6 (children 10-under will be admited for free).

    Women's lacrosse

    • Ruby Surgent scored all of her game-high five goals in the first half to pace Coast Guard past Mass. Maritime, 16-6, in a non-conference game. Kaitlin Dickson and Daria McKenna each had three goals and an assist for Coast Guard (3-4) and Holly Moore scored twice. Angel Fay also had 11 saves.

    H.S. diving

    • East Lyme's Mitchell Ryan scored 415.05 points to place 11th at the CIAC State Open Diving Championship at Middletown High School. Hand sophomore Tianyi Zeng won the his second straight championship (607.60).
