Schermerhorn named GM of Connecticut Tigers

The Connecticut Tigers announced that Norwich native Dave Schermerhorn has been named the team's general manager and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the franchise. Vice President & General Manager Eric Knighton will be stepping down immediately to pursue a job outside of baseball.

"Eric and his many talents will be missed. We wish him luck in his new endeavor," said Tigers Senior Vice President C.J. Knudsen. "Dave is the perfect person to take the helm and guide the Tigers. Having grown up in Norwich and being a part of the Tigers' front office staff since 2010 makes this a wonderful opportunity for both Dave and the Tigers. He will be very successful as the General Manager and will continue to provide outstanding family entertainment for our fans to enjoy for years to come."

Schermerhorn has been with the franchise since its inaugural 2010 season. He had most recently served as the team's Assistant General Manager since December of 2013. Prior to that, he served as Director of Community Relations & Promotions for the club during the 2010-2013 seasons. He is a graduate of Norwich Free Academy and was a part of the 2003 state championship baseball team.

"I'm very excited and thankful for this opportunity. We're fortunate to have an outstanding staff in place that works tirelessly to bring the best family-friendly and affordable entertainment to our fans," said Schermerhorn. "It's truly an honor to lead this franchise in my hometown and in the ballpark I grew up in both as a kid and professionally."
