    Local roundup: Bauml leads Tigers to victory

    Norwich — Cole Bauml drove in four runs as the Connecticut Tigers beat the Hudson Valley Renegades 8-2 on Sunday in a New York-Penn League game at Dodd Stadium.

    Bauml hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth inning and highlighted Connecticut's five-run second with a three-run triple.  Sam Machonis hit a two-run single in the fifth to give the Tigers (31-25) a 2-1 lead.

    Gregory Soto (3-1) got the win, allowing six hits and one run over six innings with six strikeouts and no walks.

    • Keith Rocco won three races during Saturday night's eight-race program. The Berlin driver won the 35-lap SK Modified feature and a pair of 30-lap Late Model races. Dennis Perry of Pawcatuck was second in the SK race and Plainville's Ted Christopher was third. Jason Palmer of Berlin was second and Jeff Smith was third in the regularly-scheduled Late Model race and Anthony Flannery of East Hampton was second and Palmer third in the Late Model race rescheduled from a July 30 rainout.

    There were two 50-lap U.S. Legends races, one a rainout from Thursday, and Edward Fatscher of East Northport, N.Y., and Austin Green of Concord, N.C., qualified for the nationals with victories.

    There were also two 25-lap Limited Sportsman features. Chris Meyer of Norwich won the scheduled race with Monte Gibbs of Killingworth second and Al Stone of Durham third. In the makeup from July 30, Gibbs won with Meyer second and Charles Beal of Pawcatuck third.

    Jordan Hadley of Quaker Hill won the 25-lap Mini Stock race. Charles Canfield of East Haven was second and Sean Caron of East Hampton finished third.
