    Local colleges: Kelleher helps Conn women remain perfect

    Clinton, N.Y. — Caroline Kelleher scored all three goals as the unbeaten Connecticut College women's soccer team beat Hamilton 3-0 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game on Saturday.

    Alex Baltazar and Michelle Medina had assists and Bryanna Montalvo made seven saves for the Camels (6-0, 2-0).

    In other games:

    • Becker broke the game open with three second-half goals and beat Mitchell College 5-1 in a New England Collegiate Conference game. Jacquelyn White scored, Drew Johndrow assisted and Jordan Lohneiss made 19 saves for Mitchell (1-6, 1-1).

    • Clark scored in the 27th minute and beat Coast Guard 1-0 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference game. Rachel Boohar made six saves for Coast Guard (3-3-2, 0-1-1).  

    Men's soccer

    • Clark scored twice in the second half and beat Coast Guard 2-0 in a NEWMAC game. Montville's Jake Sorenson made two saves for Coast Guard (5-2-1, 1-1).

    • Hamilton scored in the 52nd minute and beat Connecticut College 1-0 in a NESCAC game. Mark Cameron made three saves for Conn (4-2, 1-2).

    • Mitchell College lost to Elms 3-2 in the NECC opener for both teams. Christian Tomaj had an unassisted in the 83rd minute to Mitchell (0-5-1), which also scored on an own goal by Elms in the 25th minute. Former NFA standout Seth Strader made nine saves for Mitchell.

    • Abdou Mbacke Thiam scored in the 64th minute as UConn beat Temple 1-0 in the American Athletic Conference opener for both teams. Kwame Awuah assisted on the goal and Scott Levene made five saves for UConn (6-3).  

    Football

    • Jaron Cogdell had 13 carries for 124 yards and two touchdowns as St. Thomas More defeated Thayer Academy 28-20. Cogdell scored from seven yards out in the second quarter to give the Chancellors a 13-6 halftime lead, then broke free on a 70-yard TD in the fourth quarter to push T-More's lead to 28-13. Quarterback Juwon Grant completed 13 of 24 passes for 152 yards and a 30-yard touchdown pass to Errol James while Ayo Idowu forced a fumble and recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown and Shane Tate had an interception.

    Field hockey

    • Conn College lost to Hamilton 3-1 in the NESCAC. Bryn MacGillivray scored in the 18th minute to pull Conn even at 1-1. Colbi Vaillancourt and Meghan Lembo assisted on the goal and former Williams School standout Ryley van der Velde made seven saves for Conn (0-5, 0-2).

    Volleyball

    • Conn College split a pair of matches, beating Regis 3-1 before losing to host Johnson & Wales 3-0. Alex McDevitt had 18 kills and 30 digs, Katia Elisman had 57 assists and Sam Hunter had 15 kills and 19 digs for Conn (6-3).
