    Local roundup: Eastern CT Eagles rally and win first game 7-6 in OT

    New London — Ryan Huta scored four goals, including the game-winner four minutes into sudden-death overtime, as the Eastern Connecticut Eagles cooperative hockey team rallied for a 7-6 victory8 over Mt. Everett (Mass.) at Connecticut College's Dayton Arena.

    The Eagles trailed 6-3 before scoring four consecutive goals to win their first game of the season.

    Huta also had an assist for the Eagles (1-4)while Kevin Close added two goals and an assist, Trent Hughson scored a goal, Zach Bradley and Riley Jordan each had two assists and goalie Troy Moeller made 29 saves.

    Men's hockey

    • Junior Spencer Naas had a goal and an assist to lead UConn to a 4-1 victory over Brown in the championship game of the Desert Hockey Classic in Prescott City, Ariz. It was the 10th goal of the season for Naas. Max Kalter, Benjamin Freeman and Corey Ronan also scored goals for the Huskies (8-6-6), who had reached the title game with a 4-3 upset of St. Cloud State in the opening round, and goalie Rob Nichols made 16 saves.

    Men's basketball

    • Senior Adrian Chuquillangui had a season-high 16 points off the bench while sophomore Luke Daniels had a career-high 16 points as Coast Guard Academy beat Frostburg State 77-68 in the consolation game of the Cregger Tournament at Roanoke College. Freshman Justin Kane added 15 points and a team-high seven rebounds as the Bears (4-6) snapped four-game losing.

    • Tourney MVP Jake Ross had 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead Springfield College to an 82-71 win over Connecticut College in the title game of the Hampton Inn/Naismith Classic. Tyler Rowe led the Camels (8-2) with 14 points while Zuri Pavlin added 10 points and 10 rebounds and David Labossiere scored 123 points. Pavlin and Daniel Janel made the all-tournament team for Conn.

    Women's basketball

    • Devin Curry and Yanni Saddler each had a game-high 16 points leading Millikin to a 70-49 win over Coast Guard at the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Classic at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. Freshman Audrey Bartz led the Bears (2-8) with a career-high 10 points in the loss while junior Gill Gerton added seven points and seven rebounds. Millikin, which scored the game's first eight points and never trailed, is 7-4.

    H.S. wrestling

    • Norwich Free Academy went 0-4 at the Southington Duals, losing to Amity (42-37), Ridgefield (45-36), Southington (74-12) and Winchester, Mass. (70-6). Brandon Nieto (120 pounds) and Tim Li (126) each went 2-1 for the Wildcats (0-8), each recording two pins.
