Westbrook motorcycle driver, 73, dies after Saturday collision in Old Lyme

Old Lyme — A 73-year-old Westbrook man died Saturday after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a pickup truck on Boston Post Road near Hill Side Road.

Wells R. Lippincott of 21 Lea Drive was transported by LifeStar helicopter to Hartford Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries, according to a press release from State Police Troop F.

Police said Lippincott was traveling north on Boston Post Road around 4 p.m. Saturday when a southbound pickup truck, driven by Alex E. Swaney, 27, of Old Lyme, turned left into a private drive just north of Whippoorwill Road and struck the motorcycle. Swaney was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation, police said.
