Lyme-Old Lyme school board approves three-year contract for superintendent

Old Lyme — The Lyme-Old Lyme Board of Education unanimously approved Wednesday a three-year contract for Superintendent of Schools Ian Neviaser.

The employment contract is for the period of July 1, 2015, to June 30, 2018.

Neviaser, who came to the district after serving as assistant superintendent for the Regional School District 4 (Essex, Chester and Deep River) has been Lyme-Old Lyme's superintendent since 2012.

"According to all of our evaluations, the superintendent has done a fabulous job," said board member Beth Jones on Wednesday.

The superintendent's annual salary for 2015-16 is set at $178,486, and he also will receive a tax-sheltered annuity of $10,575, according to the contract.

The salary will be negotiated annually for the following years of the term, and, if an agreement isn't reached, the salary will continue at that level, the contract states.

On Wednesday, the board also approved three-year contracts for Holly McCalla, the district's business manager, and John Rhodes, the district's director of facilities and technology.
