Rye Field Manor in Old Lyme awarded state funding for renovations

Old Lyme — Rye Field Manor on Boston Post Road is slated to receive upgrades as one of 10 affordable housing developments awarded a share of $17,960,000 in loans and grants from the state.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Housing Commissioner Evonne M. Klein announced the awards in a news release on Wednesday.

The grants are part of the 10-year, $300 million State-Sponsored Housing Portfolio Revitalization Initiative, administered by the Department of Housing and the Connecticut Housing Financing Authority to fund the rehabilitation of more than 340 properties, according to the release.

Shoreline Affordable Housing Inc. will receive about $2,057,000 to fund the moderate renovations of Rye Field Manor, a 39-unit affordable elderly development.

The renovations include the replacement of the well water system, windows, insulation in crawl spaces and the attic to minimize air infiltration, and the replacement of existing furnaces with energy-efficient units.
