Public meeting for study on Stones Ranch to be held Monday

East Lyme — A public information meeting on a study of land use around Stones Ranch Military Reservation and Camp Niantic will be held Monday.

The meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Regional Training Institute Auditorium at Camp Niantic on Smith Street.

East Lyme, in cooperation with Old Lyme and Lyme, the Connecticut Army National Guard, Stones Ranch Military Reservation, Camp Niantic, state agencies and others in the region, is preparing a Joint Land Use Study to address compatibility planning in areas around both Stones Ranch and Camp Niantic.

The primary objective of the study is to reduce potential conflicts to accommodate planned growth and to protect public health and safety while sustaining the operational missions of the installations and the economic benefits they provide to the region, according to a news release.

The study will look at 25 potential compatibility factors, including coordination and communication, land use, safety zones, noise, vibration, water quality and quantity, vertical obstructions and roadway capacity.

Monday's meeting is for residents to learn about the study and offer their comments on the issues the study will address.

More information on the study is available at http://www.stonesranchjlus.com.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
