    East Lyme to hold town meeting on Wednesday

    East Lyme — A special town meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Town Hall for residents to vote on appropriating funds for several items.

    According to the agenda, residents will vote on an appropriation of $643,696.26 for vehicles and equipment in the town's 2016-17 equipment acquisition plan. The proposal is to pay in annual installments over five years.

    Townspeople will also vote on appropriating $223,438.97 for computer and smart boards for East Lyme Public Schools, proposed within the school district's computer replacement plan for 2016-17, and a new student information system, the agenda states. This proposal is also payable over five years.

    A special appropriation of $235,000 for projects in the capital improvement plan will also be up for a vote. That includes $25,000 for roofs; $10,000 for townwide HVAC replacement; $25,000 for townwide sidewalk repair; $75,000 for various town projects; $20,000 for replacing the cooling tower at the East Lyme Community Center; and $80,000 for revaluation, according to the agenda.

    Lastly, residents will vote on resolutions to bond $900,000 to repair town roads and $720,000 to reconstruct town roads in the Bush Hill neighborhood.
