Second community discussion on race to be held Tuesday in East Lyme

East Lyme — A second community discussion on race will be held on Tuesday evening.

The discussion, hosted by Eva P. Menon and Father Anthony C. Dinoto, M.Div., rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 400 Main St., Niantic.

Dr. Terrlyn L. Curry Avery, Ph.D, M.Div., will facilitate the discussion.

The first community conversation on race was held on the evening of July 29 at the East Lyme Senior Center.

"Our first conversation on race at the Senior Center in East Lyme was well attended and well received," the notice for Tuesday's event states. "This will be our second conversation. We need your input, ideas, and commitment."

"Let’s continue to make a difference in our area and be an example for our children!" the notice continues. The meetings' objectives are "to engage in interracial dialogue and learn to understand each other, even if we may not agree."

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
