    DEEP hosts free hunting and fishing day

    Franklin — A Free Hunting and Fishing Day for families to participate in outdoor activities while recognizing the contributions that hunters and anglers have made to the conservation of Connecticut’s natural resources will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Franklin Wildlife Management Area, 391 Route 32.

    The event, hosted by the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, will include a live birds of prey program at 12:30 p.m., hunting dog demonstrations, .22 rifle, BB gun, trap shooting and archery ranges, bait and fly-casting demonstrations and skills challenge, and crafts and games for children.
