Rep. Urban to host government forum in North Stonington

North Stonington — State Rep. Diana Urban, D-North Stonington, House chair of the legislature's Children Committee, will hold her second community forum, titled "How much government do you want?", at 7 p.m. Thursday at the North Stonington Senior Center, 391 Norwich-Westerly Road.

"I think this legislative session is going to be extremely challenging, so I really want to get this conversation started about the role of government," she said in a news release.

"This year is going to be a watershed moment where we have to come to grips with the numerous questions about what we believe government is supposed to be doing for us. That's why I feel these forums are so important," she added.

Rep. Urban said there are many questions to consider about government's role:

    • What do you expect government to do?

    • Is government basically a referee?

    • Is it government's responsibility to make sure you are employed and have a paycheck large enough to support a family?

"These are just some of the important questions we're facing, and we need to decide what we want from government," she said.
