Two Stonington shellfishing areas closed after rainfall

Stonington — Two shellfishing areas, Area A and Outer Quiambaug Cove, will be closed for at least the next seven days.

Heavy rainfall triggered the shutdown of the areas to clam, oyster and mussel harvesting, the Stonington Shellfish Commission announced Friday.
