2 people found dead in burned Brooklyn apartment building

Brooklyn, Conn. - Firefighters in eastern Connecticut have discovered two bodies inside a burning apartment building.

Lt. J. Paul Vance, a state police spokesman, says the first body was discovered by firefighters battling the blaze in Brooklyn just before 2 p.m. Friday.

A second body was located after authorities knocked down the flames and searched the former Tiffany Mill building on South Main Street.

The building dates back to the 1820s when it was part of a textile mill owned by the father of Charles Lewis Tiffany, the founder of the famous store in New York.

The building now contains at least seven apartments. Firefighters say 14 people have been left homeless by the fire.

Authorities are working to identify the two victims and determine the cause of the fire.
