Old Lyme — A Colchester motorcyclist was injured and flown by Life Star helicopter to Yale-New Haven Hospital Sunday afternoon after state police say he and another motorcyclist were traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 156 when he struck an Audi making a turn into a driveway just south of Talcott Farm Road.

Eric J. Koch, of 235 Old Hartford Road, was thrown from his Honda after the 2 p.m. crash. Police described his injuries as non life threatening.

Police said that the Audi driven by Kay K. Clarke of Essex was south on Route 156 when she stopped to turn into the driveway and then proceeded to turn when it was safe.

At the same time, police said Koch and Andrew Pisano of 132 Pinebrook Road, Colchester, were driving their motorcycles at a high rate of speed south on Route 156 when they rounded a corner just before the area where Clarke was turning. Koch struck the car and was thrown from his motorcycle. Pisano’s Suzuki then struck the Honda, throwing him to the ground. Clarke and Pisano declined medical treatment. Police said enforcement action is pending.
