Waterford police arrest New London man after brief chase

Waterford -- Police arrested a driver Saturday evening after they say he fled from them and crashed a car on Willetts Avenue. There was one minor injury.

Police said they attempted to stop Dylon M. Goss, 22, of 23 Belden St., New London, after seeing him driving erratically on Route 1 near Clark Lane at about 10 p.m. Goss accelerated, and police pursued him before the car rolled onto its side.

One of the car’s four passengers was transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London with minor injuries.

Police charged Goss with engaging an officer in pursuit, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor, driving without a license, improper turning and failure to stay in the established lane.

He was released on a $500 bond and will appear in court Dec. 14.

The road was closed for several hours after the crash, and the Waterford police Accident Investigative Team is investigating, police said. Anyone with information should contact Officer Troy Gelinas at (860) 442-9451.
