Ledyard police say man led them on car chase

Ledyard — A New London man was arrested Tuesday after police said he led them on a car chase on Route 12.

Daval Xavier Wright, 32, of 68 Connecticut Ave. was charged with reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, evading and driving a motor vehicle in violation of license classification.

Police said a motorist called 911 to report a car driving erratically on Route 12 in the Gales Ferry section of town.

A Ledyard police officer in a marked cruiser saw the car traveling south on Route 12 and turned on the cruiser's lights and siren in an attempt to stop Wright's car.

Police said Wright did not pull over and struck two cars while traveling on Route 12.

With the assistance of Groton Town and state police, the car was stopped. Wright, the lone occupant in the car, was arrested. He was not injured.

Police said Wright has an active arrest warrant from New London police that charges him with second-degree criminal mischief, interfering with a 911 call and disorderly conduct.

Wright was being held on a $10,000 bond, pending his arraignment Wednesday in New London Superior Court.
