    Bicyclist seriously injured in Preston accident

    Preston — A 22-year-old bicyclist was flown to Hartford Hospital for treatment of injuries Wednesday after he collided with a motor vehicle on Route 2.

    The crash occurred at 1:45 p.m., when state police said a vehicle driven by Paul T. Austin, 56, of Windsor collided with a bike ridden by Xiao Wang.

    Austin was traveling east on Route 2 and Wang was traveling east on the shoulder of the roadway, police said.

    Wang was thrown from the bike.

    Initially taken by Poquetanuck Fire Department ambulance to The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, police said Wang was later flown to Hartford Hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries.

    His condition was not immediately available Thursday.
