    Norwich police arrest 2 within hours of auto theft

    Norwich — Police on Tuesday arrested two people within hours of their alleged theft of a vehicle from Diamond Auto Sales, according to police.

    Police said they were called to the shop at 131 Franklin St. about 3:40 p.m. With the help of surveillance video footage, police and dispatchers worked together to identify two people as suspects in the theft.

    A short time later, police said, officers located the stolen vehicle near Prospect Street and found the suspects a short distance away.

    Police said they took both people into custody without incident.

    William L. Jones, 45, of 325 Huntington St., New London, was charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny and driving with a suspended license.

    Kristina Gencarelli, 27, also of 325 Huntington St. was charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny.

    Both were released on nonsurety bonds and are scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court July 6.
