Quinnipiac University frat suspended on hazing allegations

Hamden — A fraternity at Quinnipiac University has been shut down due to hazing allegations for the second time this semester.

University officials say the Beta Theta Pi fraternity was issued a cease and desist order, barring it from operating at the university until a student conduct process can be completed.

It is not known when the university became aware of the hazing allegations or what prompted them.

Vice President for Public Affairs Lynn Bushnell says the Hamden university does not tolerate hazing and that it plans to remove those responsible.

The fraternity's Facebook page says it welcomed new pledges on Sept. 30.

WFSB-TV reports the suspension marks the fourth time in the past three years that a Quinnipiac University fraternity has been shut down.
