H.S. roundup: Wheeler girls beat Grasso Tech for first soccer victory
North Stonington — Sophomore Eva Comeau scored a pair of goals as Wheeler won its first game with a 6-0 girls' soccer victory over Grasso Tech on Thursday.
Ellen Anderson, Addie Hauptmann, Katie Pierce and Naomi Boord also scored goals for the Lions (1-3-1) Marissa Perkins assisted on one of Comeau's goals and goalies Hauptmann and Kyle Groves combined for seven saves.
In other games:
• Emily DeRoehn headed home a corner kick from Abby Manthous in the second half as Old Lyme edged East Hampton 1-0 in the Shoreline Conference. Goalie Sam Gray made eight saves for the unbeaten Wildcats (5-0-1).
Boys' soccer
• Alex Ard had a goal and two assists as Waterford outlasted Ledyard 3-2 in the ECC on Wednesday night. Cody Brown and Oli Searle also scored goals for the Lancers (4-2), Miguel Flowers had an assist and goalie Casey White made seven saves. Daimon Pollard and Nick Washington scored for the Colonels (4-3) and goalie Blake McLeod made
six saves.
• Sam Montalto scored all three goals, including the game-winner in the second overtime, as Stonington edged Bacon Academy 3-2 on Wednesday night in the ECC. Billy deCastro and Cole DeVoe had assists for the Bears (6-1). Bacon is 1-5.
