Groton Economic Development reaching out to business community

Groton – The Town’s Economic Development Division has created a list of resources for local businesses facing struggles during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The list includes links, from the state Department of Labor’s informational sheet on employee assistance, to a how-to video on how to fill out the Small Business Administration’s Disaster Loan application. The town is regularly updating the list, which is available at: https://www.exploremoregroton.com/doing-business/disaster-assistance.

Groton Economic and Community Development Manager Paige Bronk said the town's economic development team has been reaching out to the business community with updates, through its Groton Economic Development Facebook page and email listing.

The town also has been receiving calls from people and businesses with questions and is providing them with information on state, federal and private resources that are available and pointing them in the right direction, he said.

"We're trying to make the resources available and in as simple as a form as we can," said Bronk.

The town's Economic Development Commission "is here to support and be advocates for all businesses in Groton," said Chairman Bill Groves.

The commission is looking ahead to how it can help the business community in its recovery.

"My thoughts are when we come out of this unprecedented upheaval of commerce that the EDC will hold a forum to address what the business community is in need of and more important in what the EDC can do to help them restart and in some cases rebuild their businesses," Groves said.

The town also has compiled a list of local restaurants open for delivery or take-out that it is regularly updating: https://www.exploremoregroton.com/news-and-media/restaurant-update?fbclid=IwAR2zqfSqCX5CpAqEcLK62p_cvYfpmV7crdVVa0ZO4C94rkQUULpoHbGTI3g.
