    H.S. lacrosse: East Lyme boys share of ECC D-I crown, girls win it outright

    Groton — East Lyme wrapped up its share of the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I boys' lacrosse title with a 18-4 win over Fitch on Thursday.

    Rob Swenson had five goals and three assists, James McCoy had four goals and an assist and Matt Valakos had three goals and four assists for the Vikings (8-8, 7-1), who share the title with Waterford. Aiden Paterson and Ryan Whaley had two goals each, Hunter lizza scored and Ben Jakubcak had a goal and an assist for East Lyme.

    Dev Jordan had a goal and two assists for Fitch (5-10, 3-5). 

    In other games:

    • Nolan Brown had three goals and an assist and Mason McMahon added two goals and three assists for Norwich Free Academy in a 9-6 win over Woodstock Academy in ECC Division I. Ryan Foster chipped in a goal and two assists while Dylan Chapel had one goal and Daniel Benjamin scored twice for the Wildcats (4-11, 2-6), who also received 13 saves from Lavery Hill.

    • Billy Niles had three goals and an assist, pacing St. Bernard/Wheeler past Montville 7-4 in Division II action. Cameron Riley scored two goals and Roland Long had a goal and an assist while Zack Weimert had a goal, Zach Spiers added three assists and goalie Dave Schroeder made 10 saves for the Saints (9-5, 5-3). Derek Debbis scored two goals for Montville (2-13, 0-8) and Matt Elwell and Sean Ventresca each added one goal.

    • Caleb Holdridge contributed three goals and four assists in Waterford's 14-12 non-conference loss to Somers. Mason LaForte had three goals while Ryan Huta and Jackson Alloway had two goals apiece for the Lancers (14-2), who received four assists from Kyle Jacobson. Somers is 15-1.

    • Eagle Hill School (Mass.) beat Williams in Wednesday's SENE semifinals, 11-5. Harry Anselmi had a goal and an assist for Williams (3-7-1) and Jack Connelly, Eli Bunnell, Max Sarwar and Zain Alam scored.

    Girls

    • Kristen Healy scored four goals and Maeve Counter had three goals and and assist as East Lyme wrapped up the ECC Division I title with a 21-1 over NFA. Natale Taylor had a goal and four assists, Sophie Taylor, Abby Mountain and Daven Roberts each had two goals and an assist, Julia Bates scored twice, Anna Johnson and Caroline Real had a goal and an assist each and Laura Agbayani and Sarah Christensen also scored for the Vikings (13-3, 5-1). Mackenzie Shrewsbury scored for the Wildcats (0-14, 0-6). 

    • Maggie O'Leary had eight points (seven goals, one assist) to highlight Fitch's 22-5 victory over St. Bernard. Bridget O'Leary added four goals and two assists for the Falcons (10-4) while Maddie Catlett scored three goals and goalie Molly Bresnahan made five saves. Fitch also got two goals and an assist each from Rita Sefransky and Valentina Silva, Emily Catlett had a goals and three assists, Zoe Pearse had a goal and two assists and Jessica Russo and Diana Sefransky each scored a goal. Lindsey Clement score twice for St. Bernard (7-5).

    • Lydia Tinnerello had two goals and an assist in Old Lyme's 15-6 loss to North Branford in the Shoreline Conference. Catharine Harrison, Brenna Lewis, Olivia Stack and Leah Fouquette each added a goal and Hayden Saunders made 15 saves for the Wildcats (10-6, 7-3).

    • Maddie Pipech scored seven goals as Ledyard cruised to a 15-4 victory over Griswold. Cassidy Carroll added four goals for the Colonels (5-10) while Sabrina Mitchell had four assists, Miranda Pearce scored twice, Kaitlyn Flynn and Kate English each scored one and goalie Kayleigh Woomer made four saves.
