Regarding the latest school tragedy; there have been mandatory background checks on the books for decades, as Senators Blumenthal and Murphy both well know. I agree with this whole-heartedly. However, almost without exception the deranged people that commit these atrocities have been known by acquaintances to be in need of mental evaluation. How many times have we heard of them being brought to the attention of authorities so it could be dealt with before their insane attacks? Sadly, each time something like this takes place people let their emotions take precedence over their rational thinking and begin demanding more gun laws. Does anyone really think another law would help? These people don't care how many laws we have. They don't abide by laws!

Aggressively address mental health issues instead of creating more ineffective gun laws.
