Boston group fuses country and soul at 33 Golden Street.

In some ways, it's not fair that Nashville and Memphis are in the same state — and we're not just talking about food items like hot chicken or dry-rubbed pork ribs. Rather, in musical terms, Memphis (and soul and blues) and Nashville (country) are each a top destination for aspiring songwriters and artists.

It's interesting, then, that Boston's Juliet Simmons Dinallo has, on her "No Regrets" and "Dream Girl" albums, effortlessly and simultaneously captured the sonic allure of both towns. An objective observer might suggest Simmons Dinallo's lovely voice and songs owe more to the C&W tradition, but — as with artists like Kim Richey or Lucinda Williams — there's a warm but sneaky vibe suggesting plenty of soul.

Simmons Dinallo brings her band, the Lonesome Romeos, to New London Saturday for a show at 33 Golden Street.

    Juliet Simmons Dinallo, 9 p.m. Saturday, 33 Golden St., New London; $5; (860) 443-1193.
