Preparations are under way for the commissioning of the U.S. Navy Virginia-class attack submarine PCU (pre-commissioning unit) Colorado (SSN 788) Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the naval submarine base in Groton, Conn. Preparations are under way for the commissioning of the U.S. Navy Virginia-class attack submarine PCU (pre-commissioning unit) Colorado (SSN 788) Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the naval submarine base in Groton.
The Colorado is the 15th vessel in the Virginia-class and fifth in the block III construction group featuring a new vertical launch system.
The commissioning ceremony will be Saturday morning at the submarine base.
