    Unconscious swimmer pulled from Gardner Lake in Salem

    SALEM (AP) — Authorities say an unconscious swimmer has been taken to the hospital after being pulled from a Connecticut lake.

    The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says the male described as a teenager was found in Gardner Lake in Salem near a beach area just after noon on Sunday.

    Emergency crews performed life-saving measures at the scene and the victim was taken to Backus Hospital in Norwich.

    No additional details were disclosed.

    Temperatures reached 100 degrees in some areas of Connecticut on Sunday.
