    Local gardens join in Open Days program

    Explore two private gardens in North Stonington and Stonington, open to the public for self-guided tours to benefit the Garden Conservancy, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 19.

    Visitors may begin at either Blue Flag Farm, 449 Pendleton Hill Road in North Stonington or Stone Acres, the estate of Mr. and Mrs. Frederic Paffard, 385 North Main St. in Stonington. Highlights include more than 600 daylily cultivars of all sizes, extensive perennial borders, cutting gardens, rose arbors, greenhouse, a 100-year-old boxwood hedge and a grapery.

    No reservations required. Held rain or shine. The cost is $5 per garden, with children 12 and younger admitted for free.
