Seeks info on whether Ledyard ed cuts made

Pardon me if I sound a little skeptical concerning reductions in the town budget that was passed on May 10, 2014. My concern for the moment is with the cuts proposed by Finance Committee Chairman Gordon Strickland regarding the cut to the education budget of $495,000. Did these cuts take place or was it another ruse to shake up Ledyard's education supporters to demand that the original proposal be in place prior to the referendum?

Mr. Strickland warned that reduction to the education budget would result in cuts to boy's swimming, golf, freshman boys soccer and the high school newspaper, additionally, programs deemed either cost inefficient or having low participation numbers. Nine tutor paraprofessionals, two teachers and one secretary. Other cuts to include a magnet school bus, some in-town bus runs, and the delay of a technology purchase.

Since I have seen nothing to indicate that Ledyard schools are suffering from the cut to the education budget, I wonder if Mr. Strickland's proposals actually took place. My feeling is that since it became public knowledge that cuts would have to be made, it should have become public knowledge that the cuts were actually carried out.
