    The Center for Financial Training recently honored six Chelsea Groton Bank employees – Elaine Brunelle of Waterford, Dawn DeCristofaro of Ledyard, Jennifer Seuferling of Groton, Lisa Lelek of Groton, Alyssa Bryan of New London, and Regan Nichols of Ashaway, R.I. – during the annual graduation and awards ceremony.

    Brunelle earned a diploma for her studies in the Financial Services Management program. DeCristofaro completed the certificate program entitled Introduction to Financial Services Operations. Seuferling earned certificates for completing the Introduction to Financial Services and Professional Teller programs.Lelek was awarded certificates for her completion of the Introduction to Financial Services and the Introduction to Financial Services Operations programs.

    First in Class awards, presented to the individual who achieved the highest grade in the class, were awarded to Bryan for excelling in Law and Banking Principles and to Nichols for her completion of Customer Service Excellence.

    Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has named Meg Polubiatko, a local banker with extensive mortgage-lending experience, as its new Mortgage Officer, said Brian A. Orenstein, Charter Oak's President and Chief Executive Officer.

    Polubiatko, a Norwich native, is a longtime resident of Mystic. She has 25 years of banking industry experience and has focused on the lending area for the past 15 years. Polubiatko has served as a board member for the New London-based Alliance for Living for the past seven years, and she is a graduate of the Connecticut Bankers Association's Connecticut School of Finance & Management.

    Millstone Station was honored at Thames River Community College Foundation’s Annual Breakfast held at the college. Kevin R. Hennessy, Director, Federal, State and Local Affairs received the award on behalf of Dominion. Dominion provides 16 full-tuition scholarships for the nuclear engineering technology degree program for Three Rivers students. Scholarships cover the full cost of tuition, books, and fees for a two-year associate degree program. Students receive a monthly stipend during the nine-month academic year and have a 12-week paid internship/coop experience at the Millstone Nuclear Station.

    Ryan Gerrity, a recipient of the Dominion/Millstone scholarship program, spoke about his experience at Three Rivers and also provided a tour of the college’s new glass-top nuclear simulator.

    Susan Howard and Connie Howard of US Properties Realty were the sole agents representing the buyer and seller of the former Norwich Bulletin building at 30-66 Franklin St., Norwich. The property consists of over 29,000 square feet of office space and 4,800 square feet of warehouse and also included a parking lot across the street.

    The new owner is Dr. Tim Owens of Avon,who plans to convert the building into incubator office space retail, and restaurant space. A brewery is also in the new plans.
