What you need to know about Lexi: Growing up, LaPerle participated in a number of sports. She was competitive in gymnastics for about six years. At Ledyard, she was a member of the soccer, lacrosse and indoor track teams, as well as gymnastics. Last fall, she was named to The Day’s All-Area Girls' Soccer Team as a midfielder, a sport she plans to continue to play at Curry. Soccer is the first sport she ever played and remains her favorite. "This past soccer season was my favorite out of my four years of playing," she said. "Winning the ECC tournament was a big highlight in my high school soccer career. The soccer team has been slowly developing over the past few years and while they have just lost a larger group of seniors, there are many promising upcoming players as well as key returning players to continue the growth." LaPerle described some of her best moments: "For lacrosse, it was scoring my first goals during my first season playing midfield. Overall, my favorite high school sports memory was scoring a goal early in the ECC Division II final game (in soccer)." Before the spring season was canceled, she was looking forward to having a "fun last season with my friends." She chose Curry because of its nursing program and location close to Boston, where she will have an opportunity for some good clinical experiences. Why nursing for a major? "Because I enjoy science and I understand the importance and need of this profession," she said.
