    Arrest made in New London shooting incident

    New London — Police have made an arrest and recovered a weapon in connection with a shooting incident Tuesday in the Hodges Square area of the city, police said.

    Details of the arrest were not yet available late Tuesday.

    Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said police were called out at 3:42 p.m. Tuesday to investigate reports of gunfire in the area of 424 Williams St. A .45 caliber shell casing was recovered from the scene, and police could be seen interviewing potential witnesses. The incident reportedly involved two males.

    There were no reports of injuries.

    Police responded in force to the area, aided with some additional officers who had been attending a union meeting and saying their goodbyes to four officers who will be leaving the department, said Officer Todd Lynch, the local police union president.
