New London ― For Petty Officers stationed at Coast Guard Station New London recreational boating safety patrols are part of their daily routine, and Memorial Day was no different. A crew of four patrolled the Long Island Sound, from the Mystic River to the Thames River, for three hours Monday boarding boats at random for safety inspections to make sure state and federal laws and regulations were being met.
