Missing Norwich boy, 4, found safe
Norwich — A missing 4-year-old boy was found safe Tuesday night under a thick row of hedges near his home after a search by first responders and residents, police said.
Police said in a news release that they received a 911 call about 6:29 p.m. Tuesday reporting the missing boy, who was last seen playing in the backyard of a home in the area of West Town Street and Wightman Avenue. Police said the backyard borders a forested area.
Police officers search for the boy, with the help of the Yantic Fire Department and a Waterford Police Department K-9, according to the release. Nearby residents, who had received a mass notification with the child’s description and a request for help, helped search.
A Norwich police officer found the child, who was not injured, under the hedges near his home at 7:29 p.m., according to the release.
