Coast Guard Academy selects Petty Officer 1st Class Alicia Reader as 2015 Enlisted Person of the Year

New London — The Coast Guard Academy has selected Petty Officer 1st Class Alicia Reader as its Enlisted Person of the Year for 2015.

Reader will receive a Coast Guard Achievement Medal and was selected from a pool of deserving candidates whose leadership, personal accomplishments, specialty knowledge, public relations, loyalty and integrity were exceptional for the period recognized. Reader's outstanding technical competence, adherence to military protocol, superior performance of duties, and constant display of a positive "can-do" attitude led her to successfully compete with the very best of her peers throughout the Coast Guard Academy.

She was judged as the individual who best reflects, on a daily basis, all those essential qualities the Coast Guard values in the enlisted corps. Demonstrating exceptional leadership and outstanding resource management, she was directly responsible for leading the Cadet Servicing Personnel Office  and the Academy Permanent Party SPO through the myriad of complex personnel and administrative issues in support of more than 900 cadets, 620 active duty, reserve, civilian, and Leadership Development School candidates, two of the busiest accession processing points in the Coast Guard.

She was instrumental in the expert coordination of all logistics associated with the transfer of the Officer Candidate, Direct Commissioning and Reserve Indoctrination School's mission from the Cadet Admin SPO to the Permanent party SPO, resulting in greatly improved readiness and outstanding progress toward the Coast Guard's Officer accession programs.
