Melanie Lynn Wade and Anthony Joseph Cometa were married on Aug. 08, 2015, at the U.S. Coast Guard Memorial Chapel in New London. Chaplain Mark Johnson and Father Brian Converse officiated the marriage.

Melanie is the daughter of Christopher and Karen King of Ledyard.

Sheila Miller, friend of the bride, served as matron of honor. The bridesmaids included Melanie’s sister; Amanda King, and college classmates; Adrianne Fleming and Jessica Perry. Casia Wade, cousin of the bride, and Adriana Del Ponte, cousin of the groom, served as junior bridesmaids.

Anthony is the son of Frank and Josephine Cometa of Gales Ferry.

Michael and Nick Cometa, brothers of the groom, were both best men. The groomsmen included Peter Kurczy, Spencer Mitchell and Michael Wagner. Giovanni Del Ponte, cousin of the groom, served as the ring bearer.

A reception was held in the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Officer’s Club.

The bride and groom are both 2005 graduates of Ledyard High School. Melanie graduated magna cum laude from Ithaca College in 2009. She is employed as a music teacher at Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Technical High School.

Anthony graduated from Purdue University in 2009. He is employed as a senior engineer at General Dynamics Electric Boat.

The couple traveled to Greece for their honeymoon and currently resides in Ledyard.
