Instrumental trio City of the Sun plays Wolf Den Thursday

If you've spent any time marinating in the sonic magic of Pat Metheny and Charlie Haden's "Beyond the Missouri Sky," the Gipsy Kings, Explosions in the Sky or Giant Sand, you'll very much want to be in the Mohegan Sun Wolf Den tonight for a show by the excellent instrumental New York trio called City of the Sun.

Boasting guitarists John Pita and Avi Snow and percussionist Zach Para, the group spins seductive and exotic sound-webs on tunes like "Firefly," "Those Days are Now" and "Interlude." Their 2016 debut album, "To the Sun and All the Cities in Between," reached #12 on the Billboard Jazz Charts. There's a lot going on this week, but this is a show you should seriously consider.

City of the Sun, 8 p.m. Thursday, Mohegan Sun Wolf Den; free; 1-800-745-3000.
