La Grua celebrates work of three local artists in newest exhibition

Stonington’s La Grua Center will be presenting the work of three local artists as part of its newest exhibition, “A Trio of Artistic Visions.” Sky Hoyt, Marija Pavlovich McCarthy and R. Douglass Rice, all Stonington residents, met at a creative critique workshop for artists at La Grua over the last year. From there, the three, who each embody radically different painting styles, were inspired to form a collaboration. The fruit of their efforts will come in the form of a show that aims to both highlight their individual talents while also exploring themes of “art elements, aquatic nature and expressive freedom.”

An opening reception will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the center, and the show will run through the end of October. The reception is free, though a donation of $5 is suggested. The venue is located at 32 Water St., Stonington. Admission is free. Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mon.-Fri.; (860) 535-2300, www.lagruacenter.org.
