Enjoy a Very Postmodern Christmas at the Garde

Postmodern Jukebox started the way most successes do these days: YouTube videos went viral.

In this case, those clips were of pianist Scott Bradlee performing modern songs but in more of a “vintage” style.

For instance: a medley featuring The Human League’s “Don’t You Want Me,” Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” and Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” done as peppy ragtime numbers.

This has become a cottage industry for Bradlee, as he reimagines tunes in, say, more of a jazz style or with a Motown sound. The idea became a holiday-happy one on Postmodern Jukebox’s 2014 album “A Very Postmodern Christmas.”

The “Very Postmodern Christmas” concert comes to the Garde Arts Center on Sunday, and theatergoers can enjoy familiar holiday songs in a new way.

A Very Postmodern Christmas, 7 p.m. Sunday, Garde Arts Center, 325 State St., New London; $38-$69; (860) 444-7373.
