New London council will meet next week on Ackley agreement
New London — The City Council will meet next week to discuss releasing a recently discovered agreement between the city manager and the police chief.
City Councilor Adam Sprecace asked for the meeting Thursday, and on Friday Mayor Martin Olsen scheduled a special meeting for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The agenda will include whether to release the document to the public and a discussion on the implications of the agreement.
Law director Thomas Londregan, in responding Wednesday to a state Freedom of Information request filed by The Day, declined to release a copy of a memo of understanding between Chief Margaret Ackley and City Manager Denise Rose.
Some councilors have publicly disagreed with Londregan's decision.
